Unleash the Howler and turn technical terrain into your freestyle playground. Designed by Victor de Le Rue and Elena Hight, the Howler’s high-octane fusion of freeride and freestyle performance has become a definitive board for a global collective of riders who refuse to be boxed into categories. Charge backcountry spines, stomp huge airs with authority and rail powerful turns wherever you point the Howler.
Details
- Camber: High Power Camber - Full tip-to-tail camber delivering explosive pop and locked-in edge control. An 8mm rise and extended flat zone under the rear inserts amplify power and precision in the tail to drive out of turns and stomp heavy landings on steep terrain.
- Shape: Directional - A directional outline with a longer nose, shorter tail and setback stance to optimize float, maneuverability and edge power. Designed for riders who prioritize performance on groomers and in the backcountry over park riding.
- Medium Traction Tech: Medium Traction Tech features three bumps per edge (front binding, board center, back binding). The middle bump is slightly bigger than the outside bumps for better grip and control.
- Taper: Low Tapered - A subtle taper that aids directional performance but keeps the ride feeling balanced and dynamic on piste and resort terrain. Popular with riders who like to carve the resort or push freestyle in the backcountry, without giving up versatility on the powder days. Any shape with a taper of less than 10mm between the nose and tail.
- Shape Details: Tail Kicks - Tail Kicks inspired by cruiser skateboards, with a short, abrupt transition designed to maximize the benefits of the camber right up to the contact points. An extended flat zone creates a large platform to pop from and support backseat landings.
- Flex: 8 Medium Stiff (1 Soft - 10 Stiff)
Features & Construction
- Core: Power Core - Advanced triple-density full wood core made from responsibly harvested Bamboo, Paulownia and Poplar. Centered Bamboo stringers enhance durability, pop and torsional stiffness, while the Paulownia keeps the core light and damp
- Koroyd: Developed from aerospace technology, award-winning Koroyd synthetic core material is the lightest core dampening material we’ve ever tested. It absorbs vibrations and reduces tip swing weight, enabling quicker, smoother turns.
- Glassing: Triax Fiberglass - Triaxial fiberglass laminate made with a triple-layer, multi-axis construction that delivers a precise and powerful board feel with a mid-stiff torsional flex for supreme response in variable snow conditions.
- Topsheet: Premium Topsheet - Durable and scratch resistant premium topsheet engineered to endure rigorous daily use in extreme conditions.
- Stringer: ampliTex™ Carbon / Flax Stringers - Hybrid performance stringers made from carbon and naturally sourced flax fiber, developed with Swiss engineering firm Bcomp®.
- Base: Sintered 8000 Base - Premium sintered base material that’s ultra fast, highly wax absorbent, easy to repair and proven to be one of the most durable and long lasting base materials in the industry.
- Wend Natural Wax: All Jones snowboards come factory waxed with WEND natural wax so they’re ready to shred straight out of the shop.
- Edges: Recycled edges - Bombproof steel edges made from recycled German steel, engineered for maximum strength and long-lasting durability.
- Recycled ABS: Recycled ABS sidewalls with a rounded finish that are engineered to enhance durability by reducing topsheet chipping and impact damage.
- Resin: Bio Resin - A bio-based epoxy made with 27% plant-based carbon that reduces CO₂ emissions by 33% compared to conventional petroleum-based epoxy. Sourced from plant-based industrial by-products, its unmatched bonding properties deliver industry leading durability and performance.
- Forever Flex: Forever Flex stabilizes a snowboard’s flex and rocker profile for its lifetime. Boards are overbuilt, then ‘broken in’ using a process that mimics 20 days of riding and makes the flex more consistent from day one.
